Friday, December 21, is the first day of winter, the Winter Solstice. It is the longest night of the year. During the day the sun is low in the sky. We celebrate these long nights and darkness with holidays and celebrations accompanied by lights and fires.
After the solstice the days will begin to get longer; we'll have more light. So the solstice is also a time of rebirth and renewal.
In class this week we'll practice embracing the dark side of our body, the back side. We'll breathe into and expand the back side of our ribcage. We'll engage our calves, hamstrings, and glute muscles. And we'll strengthen the back of our neck. We'll bring light and awareness into the dark side of our body, the side we tend to ignore.
Join us as we celebrate and embrace the dark this week in class! Drop-ins are $12.
