Pulsing - Weekly Theme

5/29/2019

In class we pulse down and up in our poses creating an extension of our central channel from the pelvic floor to the top of the head. On each exhale we root back and down from the hips into the legs and feet. This rooting fuels a rising on the inhale through the top of the head.

Exhale we push down into the paws of the feet (toe pads and mounds), inhale we spring back up from the paws.

Exhale we root, inhale we rise...
Exhale we compress, inhale we expand...
Over and over...
Bowspring!

We'll pulse in class this week. Join us Tuesday or Thursday at 9:30am or Wednesday at 6pm. Drop-ins are $12.

Aligning Our Hands and Arms - Weekly Theme

When we bear weight on our hands and arms it's important to position them properly to prevent injury. In our Bowspring practice we place our hands outer shoulder width apart to create more space for the shoulders. We turn our hands forward pressing the finger pads, mounds of the fingers, and the sides of the wrist down. The middle finger knuckles, the center of the palm, and the center of the wrist lift, creating a springiness in the hands. We maintain tone on all sides of the arms and shoulders by squeezing the 2 sides of the wrist toward each other.

Rotating our forearms isometrically in so that the elbow hollows face each other creates more fullness in the upper back. Keeping our upper back full, we maintain a curve in the low back and open the front of the neck.

Come practice with us this week as we align our hands and arms. Drop-ins are $12.

In our Bowspring practice we work to strengthen all sides of our feet, legs and hips. Bending the knees and pulsing up and down in the poses help strengthen the back of our legs and hips as well as the front. The alignment of knees forward and hips back helps ready our legs for action. We're ready to move!

Build strength in your legs in class this week. Join us!

Thanks to Pam for demonstrating our high lunge pose on the trail!

The Place in the Middle - Weekly Theme

We begin our healthy Bowspring alignment from our heart. In the middle of our torso is our ribcage, and in the middle of our ribcage is our heart. From our heart we push out on all sides of our ribs, then we lift our ribcage up and away from our hips.

With a full, buoyant ribcage we then move on to align our hips and our head. But we always begin from that place in the middle, our heart.

Join us for a new 9-week session this week!
