"And though the True Seeker
May dress simply, This jewel shines in her heart." from verse 70 of Tao Te Ching: A New Version for All Seekers by Guy Leekley This week in class we'll focus on the "jewel" in our heart, allowing our jewel to shine in all directions. We'll push out from our heart on all sides of our ribcage as we lift the whole ribcage up. We call this "Radiant Heart" in our Bowspring alignment. We'll allow the jewel in our heart to shine throughout our positions and movements in class this week. Join us! Drop-ins are $12. Photo by Jorge Gardner on Unsplash In our Bowspring practice we take the hips back and wide and we mound the glutes up and in toward the sacrum. We engage the back side of our hips and legs as well as the front side keeping the belly long and open.
Aligning our hips allows us to move freely and works to prevent and alleviate pain. Join us this week in class! Photo by ardito ryan Harrisna on Unsplash Spirals are patterns that occur in nature. We see them in plants, animals, and the weather. They can move forward and up signifying growth and evolution.
This week in class we'll practice some twisty side spirals keeping the central channel of our body open and full. Join us in this first class of a new Bowspring session! Photo by Johan Desaeyere on Unsplash We can think of the core of our body as all sides of our midsection, a bellyband. This area of the waist and low back is soft, long, and strong. The belly is soft and the low back has a soft curve. There's length between the hips and the ribcage. And this midsection is strong. Fascia, our connective tissue, criss-crosses over the belly. As the belly lengthens the fibers narrow and cinch strong like a Chinese finger trap.
We'll focus on our core this week and incorporate some new techniques. Join us in this last Bowspring class of this session. Drop-ins are $12. Photo by Larm Rmah on Unsplash |
